Ml Zakariyya Harnekar is a graduate of DUAI and a teacher at Imam al-Kurānī Institute, Mizan Institute and GoodTree Quranic School.

16:50 to 17:40pm daily (after Asr)

Ml Muhammad Carr is a graduate of DUAI and the principal at Imam al-Kurānī Institute and Director of the Neo Foundation

22:45 to 23:30pm

Moulana Khalil Hendricks is a graduate of DUAI and is the director of Mizan Institute, GoodTree Quranic School and the InLight Foundation as well as a teacher at Zahraa Institute.

  1. Remembrance together and duah (every evening) – Mizan Thikr Group

23:30 to 00:45am

A beautiful collective thikr every evening in a calm, tranquil setting that renews faith in the hearts.

  1. Tahajjud Salah and Thikr (odd nights only)

 00:45am to 2:00am

Tahajjud salah that includes the oft-recited surahs, followed by a beautiful thikr maximising prayer on the blessed odd nights.

I’tikāf Ramadān program with Mizan Institute

Date: Friday 21 March 2024 (after Asr) – End Ramadān

Venue: Habibia Soofie Masjid, Rylands

Iʿtikāf facilities:

Full Stay for ten days: R750. Part stay – R100 per night. I’tikaaf is fully catered with suhoor and iftaar served daily for registered members. If you cannot afford the full fee, you are welcome to join and pay a contribution that you can afford

Please note that I’tikāf attendees must be 18 years of age and above.

Note: Registration is only required for those who are sleeping over and/or partaking in the meals. The i’tikaaf is a catered event and exact numbers are required. Limited spaces are available. Those only attending the programs are not required to register. All programs open to males and females.

Registering for the Overnight Iʿtikāf Programme

Please register by completing the form on this page. Confirmation of registration will take place within two working days.

As we have limited space available, preference will be given to those booking longer stays. We will, however, do our best to accommodate all requests.

Payment and Contributions

Mizan Institute is responsible for the catering of the Iʿtikāf programme.
Habibia Soofie Masjid is responsible for the running costs of the Masjid during the programme.

The total cost of the itikaaf amounts to over R80,000.

  • For those who can afford, we are requesting a subsidised contribution of R750 for a full stay and R100 per day for those who are doing a part-stay.
  • For those who cannot afford the full amount, you are more than welcome to join at whatever is manageable.
  • If attendees are able to contribute more than R100 per day this will be of great assistance to subisidise the itikaaf.
  • For those not attending the programme but would like to contribute, you are welcome to do so.

All contributions will be used exclusively for Mizan Institute events. No Zakah will be accepted towards these initiatives.
